My Story
Jorge Mondol was born and raised in the heart of Cartagena, a city that has long captivated travelers with its unique blend of colonial history, golden beaches, and vibrant culture. As a child, Jorge Mondol was fascinated by the stories his elementary school teachers told him about pirates, conquistadors, and the secrets hidden within the city walls. In the afternoons after college, he loved to stroll through the narrow streets of the historic center, imagining the adventures Cartagena had experienced over the centuries. As he grew older, Jorge Mondol began to notice something: although many tourists visited Cartagena, they didn’t always have the best experience. Some paid excessive prices for basic tours, others didn’t feel safe exploring on their own, and most missed out on the true essence of the city by relying on guides who weren’t properly trained or, worse, didn’t speak their native language, English. Jorge Mondol knew his beloved Cartagena deserved better, and so did tourists. After completing his studies in Tourism, working for over 15 years in the field and becoming certified as a tour guide, Jorge Mondol decided it was time to offer something different. He founded Cartagena Top Experiences, an agency with a clear mission: to provide excellent service, guarantee the safety of tourists and offer fair prices. Jorge Mondol, it was not just about showing the iconic sites, such as the San Felipe Castle or the Rosario Islands, but about making sure that every visitor felt the warmth and authenticity of Cartagena, without worrying about their safety or feeling ripped off. From the beginning, Jorge Mondol set high standards at his agency. Each tour was meticulously planned to ensure that visitors could enjoy the best of Cartagena with complete peace of mind. He instructed his team of guides to be not only informative, but also attentive to the needs of tourists, always ready to offer honest recommendations, from the best local restaurants to the best times to avoid the crowds. One of the defining moments of his commitment was when a family from the United States, traveling to Colombia for the first time, expressed concerns about safety. Jorge Mondol personally made sure that every detail of their trip was covered, from safe transfers to carefully selected routes. Founded by a passionate team of local guides, our digital agency emerged with the goal of redefining the way travelers discover the beauty and authenticity of Cartagena. After a period of challenges for the tourism industry, we saw a unique opportunity to connect visitors with personalized, safe and high-quality experiences in the most emblematic city of the Colombian Caribbean. TERMS AND CONDITIONS
1. Bookings All bookings made with Cartagena Top Experiences are subject to these Terms and Conditions. Your booking, once accepted and confirmed in writing, via email, by Cartagena Top Experiences, represents a binding contract between you and Cartagena Top Experiences. 2. Changes to a Booking 2.1 If you need to change a booking All changes to a booking, for example: a change in the number of people in your group or a change in the date, must be made in writing to Cartagena Top Experiences via email to sales@cartagenatopexperiences.com. We understand that at times it can be necessary to make changes and so we do not charge an administration fee for changes. We will do our best to accommodate your changes but in the event that this is not possible e.g. due to guide availability and you need to cancel the tour as a result, the Cancellation Policy shown in these Terms and Conditions will apply. In the event that we can accommodate your changes we will notify you of any additional costs incurred by the change (e.g. admission fees) which you will be liable for. Any additional costs must be paid in order to confirm the changes. 2.2 If Cartagena Top Experiences needs to change a booking Cartagena Top Experiences reserves the right to make amendments to the tours within your booking. In the event that major changes are required (e.g. change of date, change to a major destination included on the tour) you will be notified as soon as possible using the contact details you provided when the booking was made. In the event that these major changes are not acceptable to you, Cartagena Top Experiences will cancel your booking and you will be entitled to a full refund for the monies that you have paid Cartagena Top Experiences for this booking. Cartagena Top Experiences will not be liable for any additional expenses you have incurred in relation to this booking e.g. accommodation, transport. 3. Cancellation Policy 3.1 If you need to cancel a booking All booking cancellations must be made in writing to Cartagena Top Experiences via email to sales@cartagenatopexperiences.com. Cartagena Top Experiences will send you acknowledgement of your cancellation request so that you know it has been received. Cancellation charges will apply according to the amount of notice you give and will be deducted from any refunds owed. Charges are as follows: - Bookings cancelled 8 days or more before the tour date: there is no cancellation charge however you will be liable for any costs that have already been incurred with 3rd party suppliers in relation to this tour e.g. credit card processing fee, admission tickets that require early booking. - Bookings cancelled 3 - 7 days before the tour date: a cancellation charge of 50% of the amount you paid for the tour will apply. - Bookings cancelled within 48 hours of the tour date: a cancellation charge of 100% of the amount you paid for the tour will apply. Any refunds owed will be made to the credit card that was used to make the booking. 3.2 If Cartagena Top Experiences needs to cancel your booking In the event that Cartagena Top Experiences needs to cancel your booking you will be notified as soon as possible using the contact details you provided when the booking was made. Where possible Cartagena Top Experiences will offer an alternative solution e.g. a different tour or the same tour on a different date. If it is not possible to offer an alternative solution or these solutions are not acceptable to you then we will refund 100% of the monies we have received from you for the booking. All refunds will be made to the credit card that was used to make the booking. Cartagena Top Experiences will not be liable for any additional expenses that you have incurred in relation to this booking e.g. accommodation, transport expenses. 4. Tour Description and Prices Cartagena Top Experiences reserves the right to amend the prices and tour descriptions displayed on this website. In the event that an amendment is made to a tour that you have booked, the conditions stated within "2.2 If Cartagena Top Experiences needs to change a booking" apply. In the event of a price increase to a tour that you have booked, Cartagena Top Experiences will honour the price that you paid at the time of your booking. 5. Health & Fitness The tours include moderate to high amounts of walking and so by making a booking it is expected that you will have a suitable level of fitness to do the tour. If you are unsure about whether the tour is suitable for your fitness or state of health please contact Cartagena Top Experiences before making a booking. It is your responsibility to make Cartagena Top Experiences aware of any medical matters that could affect you on the tour. 6. Travel Insurance Your booking and the tours do not include personal insurance. It is recommended that you take out personal travel insurance for your holiday that adequately covers your booking and tour. Areas of cover to consider include: cancellation, curtailment, theft or loss, injury or illness during your holiday. 7. Accident, Injury, Loss or Inconvenience Cartagena Top Experiences will not be liable for any accident, injury, damage, loss, delay, inconvenience - direct or consequential, however caused, unless it is due to negligence by Cartagena Top Experiences in which case our liability will be limited to compensation to a maximum amount of the tour price you paid. 8. Use of this website You may browse this website for the purposes of information, contacting Cartagena Top Experiences or for making bookings. You may download or print any material on this site for your own non-commercial, educational, private or domestic use only. However, you may not distribute, modify, transmit or revise the contents of this website without written permission from Cartagena Top Experiences. By using the website you agree to these conditions.
